Dear Friends: Blood is thicker but ink dries faster, and I'd like to take this moment to announce the publication of our eighth poetry postcard! This email also serves as a small celebration of the project's one year anniversary. Awww. This wonderful poem, "Ode to a Second-hand Camera, or Lovely Mirrors" by Mary Austin Speaker of Indiana (oh the mystery of vague geographical references placing a human within an incompatible scale!) serves as our literary offering for December. It's set in 12 and 24pt Goudy Modern, a wonderful typeface with verve and color, a wonderful contrast of thick and thin strokes with a certain angle to it all that makes me happy. This edition of 170 postcards was printed over three days (two colors, and the back) by hand in San Francisco. The paper is Fabriano Artistico and Uno, the mix provided by whatever I had left in my paper stash under my couch. Standard warning applies: I will be mailing them soon, probably by Friday or Saturday, but not Wednesday, for that is League Night at the Bowling Alley. If you have moved, or wish to cease receipt, let me know soon. Also, if you, for whatever reason, don't think I know your address, you can send it to me now. As always, I will be putting cards around San Francisco, and some will be available at Reading Frenzy in Portland, Oregon. Stay tuned. Each edition costs about $80 in paper and postage. Think of how many games at the alley I could roll, or beers I could have! Contributions are always appreciated. Last November, I sent out a little card, with a poem by Shelley. I'm happy to say that because of the submissions I've gotten since then, I haven't had to print any poetry written by dead people since. Have a happy new year, and Christmas, if you're into that sort of thing, As always, http://postcard.nougat.org/
